WHOOP UCI MOUNTAIN BIKE WORLD SERIES 2025 CALENDAR UNVEILED
Olympic Authority to Host Both Cross-country and Downhill World Cups Oct. 3-5, 2025
LAKE PLACID (October 2, 2024) — The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) announces that WBD Sports and the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) have released the 2025 WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series calendar with Lake Placid to host both Downhill and Cross-country races. Scheduled for October 3-5, 2025, this three-day event will showcase the world’s top mountain bikers competing in World Cup formats, including Cross-country Short Track (XCC), Cross-country Olympic (XCO), and Downhill (DHI).
The 2025 edition of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series is part of a three-year agreement between the Olympic Authority and Warner Bros. Discovery Sports (WBD Sports), the global promoter responsible for broadcasting, promoting, and organizing the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series. All race weekends, including Lake Placid’s, will be broadcast on the B/R Sports hub on the Max streaming service in the United States.
Lake Placid will once again be the only U.S. stop on the 2025 WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series tour and one of just seven locations to host both Downhill and Cross-country racing during the same weekend. The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series made its debut in Lake Placid last week with Cross-country races on a newly constructed course at Mt Van Hoevenberg. Fans from both near and far enjoyed world-class competition amid a backdrop of peak fall foliage and sunny weather conditions. Specialized Factory Racing athletes dominated the elite competition with Victor Koretzky sweeping both the XCO and XCC races and Laura Stigger narrowly defeating teammate Sina Frei (the XCC winner) in the XCO race.
The addition of Downhill racing next year will attract a new set of professional mountain biking stars along with their loyal followers. Frenchman Loic Bruni, a five-time world champion, is one of the sport’s all-time greats and Austrian Valentina Höll is a rising star in the women’s ranks.
The WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series is recognized as the premier competition in mountain biking, uniting all major formats of the sport under one global brand. Launched in 2023, this approach brings the best athletes from Endurance (XCO and XCC) and Gravity (DHI and Enduro) formats together on the world’s most challenging courses. The series will visit 10 countries across 15 rounds in 2025, with 16 weekends of intense racing action between April and October.
