Summer Attractions and Activities Schedule
New York State’s Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) announces opening dates and times for summer activities at the Mt Van Hoevenberg and the Olympic Jumping Complex in Lake Placid.
Skyride Experience
Feel the woosh of ski jumpers just feet away, launching themselves the length of a football field. Explore the jumps and towers while riding with friends and family on an eight-person gondola. Then take the glass-enclosed elevator to the observation deck of the HS 128 meter ski jump tower for panoramic views. Venue: Olympic Jumping Complex. Open: Daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, beginning May 20, 2022.
Sky Flyer Zipline
Glide down the same flight path as ski jumpers and experience the exhilaration of flight on a unique zipline with unparalleled views. Venue: Olympic Jumping Complex. Open: Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, beginning May 27, 2022.
Cliffside Coaster
The longest coaster in North America is designed like a bobsled track and puts visitors in the driver’s seat. Riders control their speed through sharp corners and cliffside banks on a track that winds through pristine forests and offers stunning views. Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg. Open: Friday through Tuesday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, beginning May 27, 2022.
Bobsled Experience
Reach speeds of 50 miles per hour around banked turns, cruising down a real half-mile bobsled track just like Olympic athletes. This is an adrenaline-inducing ride unlike any other. Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg. Open: Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, beginning May 27, 2022.
Olympic Legacy Tour
Offering a historical perspective with Olympic inspiration, this is a unique walking and bus tour experience during which expert guides offer details and insights into the sliding sports of bobsled, luge, and skeleton. Beginning at the new Mountain Pass Lodge, tours give visitors closeup views of the twists and turns of sliding tracks throughout their history. Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg. Open: Daily 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, beginning May 27, 2022.
Climbing Center
The region’s newest indoor climbing facility serves climbers of all ages, levels, and interests. With multiple lead options, a bouldering wall, a traverse wall, gear, and shoes, the Climbing Center takes climbers to new heights in a safe and controlled environment. Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg. Open: Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm through July 1. After that date, the center will be open from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm to accommodate athlete training sessions. Climbing programs and group bookings are also available.
Cross Country Mountain Biking
Explore secluded Adirondack forests via more than 30 km of cross-country ski trails and single track. There’s terrain for veteran riders and beginners alike from steeps, jumps, and hairpin turns to open meadows and gentle flats. Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg. Open: Daily 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, beginning May 20, 2022. Riders of all ages are welcome with both rentals and mountain bike lessons available, too.
Discover Biathlon
A one-of-a-kind experience for athletes of all ages and abilities. The program first gets participants’ heart rates up with aerobic activity, such as hiking or biking, before swiftly settling participants onto the range with a real biathlon rifle for intense exercise in precision marksmanship. Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg. Open: Friday through Sunday from Noon to 4:00 pm, beginning May 27.
Discover Luge
Professional and Olympian instructors guide visitors through the sport of luge and prepare them to take multiple runs on a paved summer track with a wheeled luge, feet first, face up, letting gravity do the work. A safe and fun way to experience an exciting winter sport. Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg. Open: Monday through Thursday from Noon to 4:00 pm, beginning May 30.
Hiking and Running
With 55km of cross-country ski terrain, hikers and runners of all levels can enjoy total immersion in pristine birch and pine forests while going up and down hills, through lush valleys, over flats, and across mountain brooks. There’s also one of the Adirondack’s newest trails, the MVH East Trail, a 4.7 mile out and back that is a model for sustainable trail design offering a gentle climb to some of the finest views in the High Peaks. Trail parking areas also provide chargers for electric vehicles. Venue: Mt Van Hoevenberg. Open: Daily 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Dining and Shopping
At Mt Van Hoevenberg, the 81-18 Café serves a wide range of menu items from vegan to burgers.
Visitors will also find an enticing array of the latest techwear and the perfect souvenirs at the Mountain Pass Merchantile and the Swix Concept Store, open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
