FISU Speeding EventWhat: The USS Short Track Age Group National Championships are taking place at the Olympic Center in the newly modernized 1932 Jack Shea Arena this week. Short track speed skating is a sport that tests the speed, technical skating ability, and aggressiveness of its competitors. Nationally qualified speed skaters from across the country will race in all age groups, Junior A+ through Junior D, plus Masters. In competitions, multiple skaters (groups – typically between four and six) skate on an oval ice track.  The Age Group Nationals will consist of 500m, 777m, 1000m, 1500m distances with men and women competing.  

When: Friday, April 1 through Sunday, April 3.  

Where: Olympic Center, Lake Placid, NY inside the 1932 Jack Shea Arena.

  • Morning Session | 8:50 am – 1000m Qualifying Rounds, 1500m Qualifying Rounds 
  • Afternoon Session |1:30 pm – 1000m Finals, 1500 Finals, Jr C-D Mixed Team 2K Relay 
  • Approximate end of day 4:15 pm 
  • Saturday, April 2 | Junior D – Master 500m 
  • Morning Session | 9:00 am – 500m Qualifying Rounds 
  • Afternoon Session |1:00 pm – 500m Finals, Women 3K Relay, Men 3K Relay
