LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — The Lake Placid Olympic Museum is hosting a “1980 Artifact and Storytelling Night” on Sunday, Feb. 23, in the Edelweiss Room at the Conference Center at Lake Placid. Nineteen-eighty Olympic Winter Games employees, volunteers and community members are invited to bring in an artifact from the Lake Placid Olympic Winter Games or share their story.
“This program is open to anyone with a three-minute story or a memory-filled artifact from the Lake Placid Games that they have in their personal collection. The fast-paced format will be exciting for all participants,” said Museum Director Alison Haas.
The program, from 6-8:30 p.m., is free and open to the public. People bringing artifacts from their homes or businesses are encouraged to arrive early to secure a time slot so they can tell meaningful stories about their personal object or photograph from the 1980 Games.
Objects will be on display during the preview from 6-6:30 p.m. with the storytelling beginning at 6:30 p.m. The emcee will be Andy Flynn, author of the “Adirondack Attic” book series and editor of the Lake Placid News.
This program will conclude the 1980 Olympic Winter Games 40th Anniversary Celebration events happening in Lake Placid.
