Lake Placid has had the privilege of hosting two Olympic Winter Games, first in 1932, and again in 1980. The venues used for the Games are collectively known as the Lake Placid Legacy Sites, and include: Olympic CenterOlympic Jumping ComplexMt Van Hoevenberg, and Whiteface Mountain.

Today, these venues continue to host visitors, events, and serve as a unique training grounds for many sports. They have undergone the biggest improvement projects to date, which were recently showcased to the world as they hosted the 2023 Winter World University Games.
