An artist rendering of the new Olympic Center Main Entrance

Major transformational projects have turned the Lake Placid Legacy Sites into some of the most unique sport venues of their kind on the planet, complete with new recreational opportunities for all ages and abilities.

At Whiteface, snowmaking upgrades made this summer enabled the summit to have its earliest opening in history. The revitalizations to the Olympic Jumping Complex, soon to host the U.S. Olympic Trials in December, makes it the only ski jumping facility homologated for both winter and summer jumping competitions in North America. The new Cliffside Coaster, at Mt. Van Hoevenberg, is the longest coaster in the U.S. At the Olympic Center, the James B. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval is set to make a return in late December, after a summer of renovations and the re-vamped 1980 Rink will open to events early 2022!

Check out what we have been up to below and plan to visit us soon, to see the transformation in person. You can expect the future of the Lake Placid Legacy Sites to be just as bright, exciting, and vibrant as its past!
